Exodus at Midnight

A True Story of Hope, Courage, and Family

My father-in-law immigrated to the United States during the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 when he was 6 years old. He penned his story and I had the privilege of illustrating some of the passages.

I made most of the illustrations in a sketchy, black and white style in order to emphasize the cold, serious, and frightening feeling of the courageous escape, only transitioning to color when he (spoiler alert) makes it safely out of Hungary.

Characters
